Insight Global Commits to Setting Science-Based Targets for Emissions Reduction

Press Release from Insight Global

Insight Global is proud to share our commitment to set science-based targets (SBT) as a clearly defined path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals set in 2015. We will work in collaboration with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to shape a greener future and advance the growth of our sustainability program.

Science-based targets help illustrate how much and how quickly companies will need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to prevent the impact of climate change. More than 4,000 businesses around the world work with the SBTi, a partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI), and WWF.

“We’re excited to be committing to, and ultimately setting, science-based targets as a natural progression of transparency and program maturity,” said Insight Global Sustainability Program Manager Katherine Slater. “We have made incremental strides in our climate program since its official launch in 2022. We released our first  ESG Impact Report , established our 2025 goals, implemented a best-in-class Carbon Accounting Platform, publicly reported our full Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions to CDP and Ecovadis—just to name a few.”

Targets are considered “science-based” if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Businesses who commit to science-based targets have two years to develop science-based targets, which are then closely reviewed by the initiative’s team of experts. Only targets that meet strict criteria are approved.

Earlier this year, Insight Global set a number of ambitious goals, including achieving Carbon Neutrality across Scopes 1 and 2 by 2025. Recognizing the pivotal role businesses play in the fight against climate change, Insight Global has now embarked on the next stage of its sustainability journey by committing to set SBTs.

What’s Next?

In the coming months, the SBTi will work with Insight Global to clarify our ambitions and develop a roadmap to meeting them, including:

  • Define and promote best practices in emissions reductions and net-zero targets in line with the latest climate science.
  • Offer technical assistance and resources.
  • Provide Insight Global with independent assessment and validation of targets.

Targets must be accepted by the SBTi within the next 24 months, but Insight Global aims to submit their targets for validation by early 2024.
